The Ohio State University Women’s Hockey club has one of the toughest schedule of any women’s D1 ACHA team in the country. The annual rivalry against Michigan, inter league play against the University at Buffalo and a road game against the defending National Champions highlight the schedule for the 2008 – 2009 season.
First year head coach, Tom Maxwell says of the schedule; “Every one of our games is against great teams. We will need to work hard to be ready and to compete in this challenging schedule.”
The team opens their season with an early showcase tournament in East Lansing, Michigan. Penn State and ACHA semi-finalist, the University of Rhode Island are expected to participate in this 3rd annual great Lakes Showcase.
This year’s home opener series is against Grand Valley State. The first game is on Saturday October 18 and the next is the following day. Both games are free and will be a lot of fun with food, music and some great hockey. The team extends an invitation to all that can be loud and cheer the team on to victory. Volunteers for all games are needed. For more information send an email to supporters@OSUWomensClubHockey.org.
The team will travel to St. Charles, Missouri on November 8 & 9 to face the defending ACHA National Champions followed by a trip to Chicago to participate in the Big Ten Women’s Showcase. Also included in this year’s schedule is a trip to Buffalo to face the University at Buffalo, the division tournament the last weekend of February and a hopeful invite to the National ACHA Tournament in Rochester, NY.
