If scheduling via phone or online through the Admissions Office, please be sure to also inform Coach Damrath so that a personal meeting with the club's coaching staff can be included in your tour.

Try Outs for the OSU Women's Club Hockey Team are open to all students and are held the first week of the fall quarter and the first week of the winter quarter. Prospective players are encouraged to mail/UPS any highlight videos or DVDs for evaluation. A highlight tape can provide a realistic assessment of a prospective player's abilities in comparison to that of the team's.

ACHA

There are just over a 100 legitimate women�s college hockey programs in the country. The Ohio State Women�s Club Hockey Team is the first and only ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association) program in the state. The ACHA consists of college clubs from coast to coast; the league is complete with pre-season, season, and post-season rankings, a national tournament, and year-end awards, such as All-American teams, etc.

Program Goals and Objectives

In addition to hockey, our coaching staff enjoys stating that our team goals aren�t necessarily hockey goals. Rather, our main aspiration is to develop trustworthy, dependable people and responsible citizens through the life lessons found in athletic competition. Four core principals serve as the foundation of our team: love, trust, respect, and personal responsibility. Hockey is the conduit through which these character attributes are instilled.

These are the team's program goals and objectives:

• Develop a strong program foundation for those to follow
• Have fun

Program Rules

There are no team rules, just expectations. A player can do no wrong as long as they follow the priorities and code developed by the players that serve as the foundation of The Ohio State University Women's Club Hockey program. Everyone including myself and my staff is held accountable to the Code, without prejudice, emotion, or excuse.

Program Requirements

This is a serious program with a defined set of goals, but with that stated it is a club team. A player's faith, family and academics should come before the team. Attendance for any team event is not mandatory but participation with The Ohio State Women's Club Hockey Team is a privilege. Attendance does matter. Roll call is recorded for all on-ice activities (games/practices) and team philanthropic events.

The Ohio State Women's Club Hockey Team does it's best to make available opportunities to those players wishing to intensely dedicate themselves to their sport. Off-ice strength and speed training is a part of the team's weekly schedule, both in-season and during the off-season. The coaching staff encourages all players to participate in these activities.

Participation in Women�s OSU Club Hockey is a privilege. Attendance does matter:

• No team function is mandatory.
• If you respect your own efforts and those of your teammates and coaches, you will be present at all team functions.
• Attendance is taken for all ice practices and games.

Exercise your personal responsibility and respect for your teammates by being on time. Stretching occurs as an off-ice team event so players should be prepared for all practices, conditioning and workouts seven minutes prior to the scheduled start.

Practice is considered participation. Game time is a privilege that no individual player is guaranteed.

Player Cuts:

• Coach�s discretion.
• No tryouts; practice till cut.
• Monetary refunds for players cut, minus ice time used.
• 25 skaters and 3 goalies are optimum but not firm.

Deciding playing time is always at the coach�s discretion. With consideration to ACHA bench maximums, game eligibility criteria for individual players is as follows:

1. Game eligible = Those with the best attendance
2. Game eligible = Those with no outstanding debt to the team
3. Game eligible = After points 1 & 2, those with the highest skill level
4. All things being equal, those with seniority dress
5. We dress 18 skaters and 3 goalies maximum
6. Besides reserve goalies, whoever dresses can expect to see ice time
7. Once a game roster is set, the best players can expect to play the most
8. Players who pay and have the skill necessary to make the team are guaranteed participation
